Core Values
1. We value Jesus who is our Savior and Leader of our
lives.
We are totally dependent upon Jesus Christ for we all sin and fail to meet God's
Holy Standards. It is only through our faith in the life, death and resurrection
of Jesus that our sins are forgiven and we are made worthy of God's forgiveness.
Out of our love and thankfulness for what Jesus did for us on the cross, we will
share His unconditional love with those around us by making him the leader of
our lives. John 3:16-17
2. We value the Bible.
We value the Bible for it contains the authoritative Word of God and is our
operating manual for daily living. We believe the writers of the Bible were
inspired by the Holy Spirit and have provided us with an authoritative,
infallible guide for our congregation and our personal lives in all matters of
faith and practice. 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Timothy 2:15, John 5:39
3. We value the lost.
We believe all people matter to God and that our mission is to reach out to the
pre-Christians of Northwest Ohio. Just as Jesus taught us that the shepherd
leaves the 99 sheep in the flock to find the 1 lost sheep, so we believe that
meeting the needs of pre-Christians and helping them become disciples of Jesus
is our top priority. Just as Jesus came and died for us before we were worthy,
so we will accept those outside of the church and offer them the same
unconditional love that Jesus gave to us. Matthew 18:11, Matthew 28:19
4. We value Servant hood.
We value the life of Jesus and the earthly example he gave us. He lived the life
of a servant and taught us that to be great in the Kingdom of God we must take
on the role of a servant here on earth. We believe that all Christians are
ministers and have been given spiritual gifts that are to be used to build up
the Church by serving others, witnessing, and offering simple acts of kindness
to the pre-Christians of Northwest Ohio. We believe that we can only grasp what
it means to be a disciple of Jesus when we live out our faith by serving others
in and outside the church. It was through acts of unconditional love and
forgiveness that Jesus modeled the life of a true disciple. Galatians 5:13, Mark
10:43-44
5. We value the Community of Faith.
We value all Christians and recognize that the Christian faith is best lived in
the context of community. The Christian community takes many different forms,
from small groups, to relevant celebrative worship, to the connectional
ministries of the United Methodist Church. It is through our relationships with
other believers in a context of community that persons will care for and support
one another, make a personal commitment to Christ, grow to be faithful disciples
and use their spiritual gifts to reach out the pre-Christians of Northwest Ohio.
Hebrews 10:24-25
6. We Value Change
We understand that growth requires change. Therefore we change and grow to
better serve God through Jesus in different and diverse ways. 2 Peter 3:18
