Small Group Ministries (SGM)

are a vital part of the life of Turning Point United Methodist Church (TPUMC). TPUMC actually began as a SGM meeting in people's homes in the late 1980's. We met monthly at first, and later weekly in people's homes, and grew as a small group for 8-10 years prior to our first Pastor being assigned in the late 1990's. Like that early SGM, it is there that we try to meet the felt needs and struggles of people in our communities. The context of small groups is where genuine caring and loving relationships are developed, and discipleship training and accountability takes place.

All SGM's at TPUMC are based on several important principles. SGM's will include:
1. Bible studies done as a part of each session
2. Meeting on a regular basis (such as weekly)
3. Intentionally leading into new and different, diverse
4. Training for those in the existing SGM
5. Meeting in homes or other places in the community (some meet at TPUMC)
6. Being lay led
7. Being originated based on a brief proposal which supports the core values and mission

We currently have several groups that are growing and doing the work of Turning Point:
